In Overcoming Barriers to Mobility: The Role of Place in the United States and the UK, Alan Berube notes a lack of intergenerational income mobility and increases in poverty have caused mobility to remain static in America and to decline in England. While in Changing Patterns in the Relative Economic Performance of Immigrants to Great Britain and the United States, 1980-2000, John Schmitt and Jonathan Wadsworth conclude that, given the continuous immigration to both countries, policymakers face an imperative to address increasing income inequality. www.brookings.edu/metro/lse.htm and www.cepr.net/publications/immigration_2006_04.htmRobert Zdenek, with the Center for Law and Social Policy, has authored Getting Connected: Employer Engagement in Work Supports.
