    Regional Plan Association’s 20th Annual Regional Assembly

    RPA’s annual Regional Assembly is New York’s premier civic event, bringing together several hundred top business, civic, philanthropic, media and government leaders from across the metropolitan region. Each year the Assembly focuses on a priority issue. In the wake of the financial crisis, the 2009 Assembly “America 2050: Building the Next Economy” took on a national emphasis with an in-depth look at what went wrong and what we could do to rebuild our economy with smarter investments. This year, the Assembly will look at the role of innovation and technology in shaping better cities and regions.

    Partners in Innovation:  Preserving Affordable Rental Housing through Energy Conservation

    Back Bay Events Center

    This forum examines the connection between affordable rental preservation and energy conservation goals and brings together federal, state, and local officials, industry leaders, and advocates for a critical dialogue on green preservation.

    Partners in Innovation attendees will include a variety of stakeholders, including state and local policymakers, for-profit and nonprofit housing developers, financiers and funders, community-based organizations, housing and sustainability advocates, representatives from federal agencies, academics and others.

    Forum Agenda and Speakers

    Keynote, plenary and breakout sessions will highlight state and local best practices in green rental housing preservation and explore ways to better support this work through innovative partnerships, policy development, and legislative reform.

    National Low Income Housing Coalition 2010 Annual Conference

    HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan is confirmed as the keynote speaker at the conference. Other invited speakers include HUD Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing Sandra Henriquez, House Financial Services Chair Barney Frank (D-MA), and House Housing Subcommittee Chair Maxine Waters (D-CA). Author Adrian Nicole LeBlanc will also provide a keynote address.

    In addition, more than 30 workshops are designed to bring you up-to-date on federal housing policy issues and in contact with HUD officials.

    The 28th NLIHC Annual Housing Leadership Awards Reception will be held on Tuesday, April 13, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, DC. 2010 honorees are Senator John Kerry (D-MA) and Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN), who will receive the Edward W. Brooke III Housing Leadership Award, and Gordon Cavanaugh, the first recipient of the Cushing Niles Dolbeare Lifetime Service Award. This event is ticketed separately.
