National CLT Conference
October 27, 2009 thru Oct 30
The current economic challenges have highlighted the need for change, the need to return to our roots. Land as a community asset has proven its value during both the economic boom and bust. Effective land stewardship yields a wide range of returns: access to land can provide places for people to live, to work, and to build vibrant, diverse communities. As our national leaders chart a course for economic recovery, Community Land Trusts are part of the solution providing long-term housing affordability, protecting homes from foreclosure, creating green jobs, and building a sustainable economy.
In this environment, what are the challenges facing us? How do we meet these challenges? We invite you to join us at the 2009 Community Land Trust Network National Conference in Athens, GA from October 27 through October 30, 2009 to engage in dialogue, flesh out these challenges, identify the opportunities and continue to build a strong CLT movement From the Roots Up!
The 2009 National CLT Conference, Growing Sustainably from the Roots Up is the largest gathering of Community Land Trustsand its happening in Georgia, where the CLT concept was born in the 1960s. Building on the roots of our movement, we will focus on sustainability and the benefits of stewardship. Our local host, Athens Land Trust, will share its experience with an engaging tour of homes and conservation lands. Enjoy the beautiful Athens community and bring your challenges and inspirational ideas to share.
Communities across the country need the stability and strength of CLTs now more than ever. Join us in Athens to help strengthen the national CLT community and to celebrate our success!
